Ariana Grande attended an event in Singapore for the international debut of Wicked: For Good

Loyal supporters of the actress are urging that a person who leaped a barrier and grabbed the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be detained or expelled from Singapore.

A widely shared video reveals the Australian man pushing past photographers and lunging at Grande while the actors walked down a promenade surrounded by fans.

Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the gathering by security officers.

Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being detained", though official papers indicated that he was scheduled to appear on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.

History of Incidents

This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Controversial Figure", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed includes recordings of him interrupting other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the artist's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the city last winter.

"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is clearly a punishable act," commented an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.

"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user wrote.

Fans Express Concern Over the Star's Safety

Numerous supporters accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from PTSD after a devastating incident at the finale of her 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and injuring many.

"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more response on Instagram.

Several fans also criticised security officers at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals demanded social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's content.

Reaction and Event Details

In footage spreading on the internet, Grande looked surprised when she was grabbed by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.

Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.

Fans at Wicked premiere
Hundreds of Singapore attendees had queued up to meet the actors of Wicked

Hundreds of supporters had congregated in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore venue, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it started.

The motion picture, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a dual version of the popular Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two distinct characters.

The production itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a rosé glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.

They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.

The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of last year in the UK, and received a dozen Academy Award nods, winning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
