Football Analyst Sutton Battles Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

The Gunners' ten-match winning run was ended by Sunderland prior to the global break, but will the English top division frontrunners recover against north London rivals Spurs this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

The singer's new record, the new release, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Murs is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a player.

"{I actually played in a charity match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "The side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife his partner have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer team," he said.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from fitness issues but their attack is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

The expert's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' only on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still Forest manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers continuing their streak under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to go with Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign started, but they have surprised a few people under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their last four games.

My son advised me to get Bees forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support Brentford at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's side carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

Olly's view: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.

Fulham have got lots of talent in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

As for Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I really need to continue opposing Sunderland with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be extremely desperate for a good result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and additionally that Fulham are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but could they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
