Fox Sports Parts Ways with Mark Sanchez, Replaces Him with Former QB Brees
The network has ended its relationship with game analyst Mark Sanchez as he faces legal allegations, multiple outlets confirmed this past Friday.
"It is confirmed that Mark Sanchez has ceased working for Fox," a Fox spokesperson stated. "We will offer no further comment at this time."
Assuming the commentary position will be another former NFL quarterback, Drew Brees, according to the report. He is expected to partner with announcer Adam Amin and is signed to call games through the 2026 season.
Details of the Incident Involving Sanchez
Sanchez, 38 had been removed from duties since he was stabbed and subsequently arrested after an altercation in an alley in Indianapolis with a senior truck driver. He had traveled to commentate on the 5 October game between the Colts and Las Vegas Raiders but was hospitalized and replaced that week by Brady Quinn.
Sanchez has been charged with a felony battery charge as well as multiple misdemeanors. The felony charge could result in of one to six years in prison, upon a guilty verdict, and he has pleaded not guilty in the Indiana court.
Drew Brees' Career and Background
Brees, 46 retired from the NFL following the 2020 campaign and worked during 2021 with NBC Sports, acting as a game analyst for the network’s Notre Dame broadcasts and featured in a football program.
Brees has done studio work with multiple networks and served as an analyst for a Netflix sports event during the holidays.
Brees led the New Orleans Saints to a Super Bowl XLIV championship in the 2009 season and was a two-time awardee NFL offensive standout. He is second behind the legendary Brady in league history in passing yards (80,358) and TD passes (571).
