US performer Pat Finn, who featured in popular television series like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has died at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, per news outlets.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his family stated in a message.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • "Friends"
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House, M.D.

He was most recognized for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Off-Screen Life

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe named "Beer Shark Mice".

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared on social media.

Pat Finn is leaves behind his wife Donna, his three kids, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
