Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his future following another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received plenty of support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory of course but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He noted, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with results like these.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is gone, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
