The Manager's Stance on Celtic

The Ipswich boss referred to the Glasgow giants as "a really big football club" but emphasized he is "in the middle" of a "extensive rebuilding" with the Championship side.

The 39-year-old took charge of Portman Road in 2021 and led them to the Premier League with consecutive elevations, but they won just a handful of victories last season as they were relegated back to the second division and they currently sit 12th in England's second tier.

"I have not had such discussions," the London-born ex- Northern Ireland young player said when asked about being on the candidate list.

"This isn't a matter I have given any thought to, or where any part of my concentration is currently.

"I have a unique job here at a special team. And we're at a really important phase of the season. Everything outside of that hasn't reached my radar."

Background and Contractual Details

Reports indicate that the manager would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support.

"During youth, we all have our preferences," he said when questioned about those. "I don't think all people has to publicly and announce what they were, but of course it's a really big sports organization."

McKenna agreed to a new multi-year deal in last year and was questioned about his alleged £5m release clause.

"In every manager's contract, there are provisions," he responded. "I don't know what mine are and, if I did, I wouldn't tell you regardless!

"I approach this job like I will remain Ipswich manager indefinitely. I understand that's not invariably going to be the case, but I will consistently do my best as while I remain in position."

Bellamy's Situation

Bellamy played for the Hoops on loan from the Magpies in 2005, but the ex- Wales striker is inclined to complete the ongoing World Cup campaign, a position that would practically eliminate the mid-forties from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are currently third in their qualifying group behind leaders Belgium and runners-up Macedonia.

Wins over the minnows and North Macedonia in November would secure their position in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually assured of reaching that stage, due to a productive European competition campaign, even if they not finish as Group J second place.

Considering his present stance, the Wales manager, whose agreement expires after Euro 2028, would not be available until after the play-offs at the earliest.
